Fort Bokar (sometimes there is another name of facility-Fort Zvezdan) is one of the most beautiful buildings of defensive architecture of Dubrovnik, the most frequently occurring on photos of fellow tourists. Fortification is located in the southwestern part of the city walls and really is "point" in the protection of the pile gate is the western entrance to the fortified city. In the "bundle" with Tower Mincheta Bocar plays a major role in the defense of the Western approach to the "nutrjanke" of Dubrovnik and, according to krepostestroitelej, the main task of the towers and Fort was the provision of protection referred to the pile gate and moat, obramljavshego outside the walls. Fort Bokar was built as a two-storey fortress with Casemates in front of the medieval walls. The fortress has a cylindrical shape. As one part of the Fort is located on a cliff, its builders have created special support (bridge over the failure). The Fort was built according to the designs of Florentine Michelozzo di Bartolomeo. Strengthening the construction was started in the year 1461 and lasted for more than a century-only year 1570 Fort Bokar adopted its present appearance. This Fort, IMHO, you can take pictures up to infinity is constantly seems to be that with every click of the shutter "fotik" turn out more interesting photo. Do not miss!

Where to stay in Dubrovnik

One of Croatia's major tourist destinations, Dubrovnik remains one of the most expensive cities in the country, especially if you wish to stay in the old town at peak season. You can choose from upscale hotel rooms just east of the old town, but for budget-friendly beds you may have to go as far as the outskirts of town. Many locals rent small rooms in their private homes, so look for rental signs in windows or check with the city's tourist office.
