Landmark Tourist Spot
Ride Dubrovnik Cable Car from Old Town to the top of Mount Srd. Along the way, the landscape transitions from the city's medieval walls and terra-cotta tile rooftops to the harbor, Adriatic coastline, and its many islands. Enjoy a panoramic view 405 m (1,329 ft) above sea level on one of two terraces. On a clear day, you can see as far as 60 km (37 mi), which made this a strategic location for the neighboring imperial fortress built here in the 19th century. Relax in the cafe, or enjoy a meal at the restaurant overlooking the city. Stop by the gift shop to pick up a souvenir from your scenic ride. Where to stay in Dubrovnik

One of Croatia's major tourist destinations, Dubrovnik remains one of the most expensive cities in the country, especially if you wish to stay in the old town at peak season. You can choose from upscale hotel rooms just east of the old town, but for budget-friendly beds you may have to go as far as the outskirts of town. Many locals rent small rooms in their private homes, so look for rental signs in windows or check with the city's tourist office.

  • Excellent smooth ride. The views are something else! Cafe at the top and option for jeep safari. The wind whipped up before we went and they suspended the service, so very safety conscious.  more »

  • I great activity to do while here! We found the cable car station by leaving the old town from the east gate and generally heading over the road and up a few step and side alleys. The attraction was very popular at the time of our visit, there was a small queue but nothing too bad. We were able to get close to the mountain-facing window on our way up and could enjoy the rush of the mountain coming towards us as the cable car ascended. We didn't eat at the restaurant while there as we had already eaten. We found the views amazing, both over the old town and inland towards the mountains. If you are not going to eat at the restaurant, this may be a bit of a pricey attraction as once you've seen the views and taken the photo's there is only the journey down left to do. I'd say it's worth doing at least once but if you're on a budget, maybe spend the money elsewhere.
  • Great views of the old town and beyond. Lovely bar/restaurant at the top. Prepare to queue to get on the cable car though as there are only 2 cars. One going up and one coming down
  • The view from the top is great, but photographers will want to buy a pass to the museum so that you can take pictures from the roof of the fort. Photos from the cable car station have cables and support structures in the way. Walk to the far left and right of the buildings at the top to get other angles, including the sun setting over the Elafiti Islands. Anyone with a car can drive up for free using the single lane road. Just be patient and be prepared to use the small spaces they allow for passing by other drivers.
  • A little pricey but totally worth it! This was one of the highlights of our trip. Make sure you reserve a table at the Panorama Restaurant at the summit to get the best views of the city.
  • My advice is to take the cable car up and take the nice long hike down. Bring sunscreen, water and a camera ! The view is incredible and you see so much more when you walk down. Enjoy 😄
