  • The cloister is the most wonderful thing, an oasis of peace and beauty after the confusion of the outside. Nice garden with some flowers and the small museum contains some works that are worth seeing.

  • I was speechless. As a art Historian and a lover of all things Renaissance. This was a gem. Great manuscripts, great triptychs and amazing church relics. I will b back. Loved it. You can get so close....  more »
  • We went because it was the oldest one in town. It was very small and not much on display there. We were out of there in 30 mins. It was pretty much a square courtyard and that was it. Abit disappointe...  more »

  • Beautiful and peaceful. It is part of the museum pass that you can get for the different museums in the city. Which is worth it if you are going to go to several of them.
  • A small but interesting monastery. I found the price a bit steep for such a small museum, but I'm still glad we went inside.
  • 30kuna to have look inside, the courtyard is very pretty and the church quite impressive. There are a few artefacts and reliquerys on show but it's quite small so won't take long!
  • The Dominicans established their monastery in Dubrovnik as early as 1225, however the building of the current church and the monastery are from the 14th century. The St. Dominic Church (surely one of the most beautiful among numerous Dubrovnik churches) was built in Gothic architectural style and the portal on the southern side contains certain Romanesque characteristics, while in 1419 the Italian sculptor Bonino di Milano added to the existing Romanesque frame a pointed Gothic arched ending. The interior of the church was damaged in the earthquake of 1667 and reconstructed with Baroque elements. However the most notable piece is the large golden Crucifix in the central arch above the main altar, a work of Paolo Veneziano, from the 14th century. The monastery complex acquired its final shape in the 15th c. when the beautiful porches of the cloister were built by local builders from the designs of the Florentine architect Massa di Bartolomeo. A special treasure of this monastery is its library with over 220 incunabulas, numerous illuminated manuscripts, and rich archive with precious manuscripts and documents.
  • Very nice place to visit.

Where to stay in Dubrovnik

One of Croatia's major tourist destinations, Dubrovnik remains one of the most expensive cities in the country, especially if you wish to stay in the old town at peak season. You can choose from upscale hotel rooms just east of the old town, but for budget-friendly beds you may have to go as far as the outskirts of town. Many locals rent small rooms in their private homes, so look for rental signs in windows or check with the city's tourist office.
