Cavtat Old Town, Cavtat

(4.8/5 based on 1,500+ reviews on the web)
At Cavtat Old Town, a small town founded by the Greeks in the 4th century BCE, you can enjoy historical sites, art, and water sports along the coast. Follow a narrow alley up the hill to a mausoleum designed by the well-known Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic. Pause at the vaults and look across the bay for a view of Dubrovnik. Visit the Reneissance Prince's Palace, and the Baroque St. Nicholas' church. At the Franciscan convent, admire the paintings of Vlaho Bukovac, the greatest Croatian painter from the beginning of the 20th century. When you're ready for the water, follow the path at the coastline and pass bathing areas and bars. You can also swim, scuba dive, water ski, sail, or surf. Take a break with a coffee or beer and watch the yachts come and go. • Cavtat is a small coastal village, near Dubrovnik, which we visited from this city just, near the old town we took a bus that took us there (takes approximately 20 minutes depending on traffic). It is a quiet village with a small port and all stone with crystalline waters and a beautiful walk in the shadow of the trees. If you go to Dubrovnik and want to get out of the oppression of the tourists and the city this is a beautiful place and ideal that I recommend to visit for its charm.
