  • Blaca or Desert Blaca, was a Hermitage in the desert mountains about 2 km to the North of the Bay of the same name on the southern coast of Brač is located on the South side of the island of Brač, between Bol and Milna. It has a great monumental value. It began as a walled stone cave. In wayside shrines over time have improved the cellars for different uses (kitchens, cellars, ovens, etc.). In the era of welfare, multi-storey buildings were built. A Renaissance church was built in 1588. There are Baroque monuments in the Church. They're not taking photos inside. If you are driving from Bowl, should give much back up the road and then walk 30 minutes. It is advisable to see it if you're in the area and have enough time. Mainly in summer it carries enough water and a Sun Hat

  • Intrigued by the dazzling images, we also wanted to visit the Hermitage of Blaca. We came running down from the top. To drive close Nerežišća the paved road that leads to the highest mountain of Brač and then noticed the home made signs where Blaca. Soon you end up on a dirt road that was washed out of the rain. A little car a sorry on this piste, but four five km it goes any further. A wooden sale cottage, stands on an open space Park there and then passing the ancient way walking downhill direction of Hermitage, a discontinued shepherds pond through a beautiful valley with old trees. The walk takes about 40 minutes out and an hour back, where the first part is the steepest. Wear good Footwear and necessarily take a bottle of water. We had fruit first, because in the Hermitage itself offered a brandy just (kindly). The overseer (who live there all year round with her aunt) are very friendly and chatty. Their homemade wine, honey or liqueur can be bought as a souvenir. The Guide costs 40 kuna in cash per person. 1963 abandoned Abbey is the most impressive testimony of culture on the island of Brač, but perhaps also of Croatia in the top 10 to locate. Under indescribable efforts, concert grand piano and ton telescopes for astronomical research along the same Rocky route were managed down there. The entire interior is still original and you have to be grateful to the supervisors that they guard all year round there life and everything. That's why you can come also summer and winter there during the day. We had also toilet paper in your backpack, for in the old Abbey itself is about 100 years ago and there is no tourist infrastructure. It is necessary in the bushes for the necessaries. This was a very impressive outing and determines our highlight on Brač. Then two dear little Dalmatian donkey waited in the parking lot on us we've shared with them our apples. You can walk up from the bottom of the sea; the distance is equal to about 2.4 km.
