Commemorating 50 years from the First Defense of Sevastopol, rises 16.7 m (54.7 ft) out of the sea. As a part of the memorial complex that was created in 1905, this large Corinthian column with an eagle on the top reminds visitors of the sacrifice made in a battle against the Allied navy. Aware that the enemy had a much stronger army, the Russian military council created a barrier using all its ships, and the entire defense force united at land. This prevented the powerful enemy from approaching. If you swim to the landmark, you'll also see a plaque on its granite base, featuring a map of the sites where the ships sank. • Though I haven't lived here for the last 23 years Sevastopol is my home town and in the years it's been through a lot of change. This area is beautiful, peaceful and clean. Save an afternoon for a stroll, a boat ride and some music, the aquarium and plenty of history.
  • Beautiful place, if longer you can cheaply resembling storgovat′sâ on a trip across the sea, ships and submarines. Boat drivers are bad guides from not knowing pereviraût history. And just ride interesting.
