Grafskaya Wharf, Sevastopol

(4.6/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Walk down the stairs of the white granite Grafskaya Wharf to reach the sea, and find out about historical events that occurred at the site. Dorian columns create a popular photography spot, and thousands of people lounge on the stairs throughout the year. Dating back to 1783, when it was just a wooden quay, the monument has changed in appearance through time, eventually becoming a Roman temple-like structure. Prominent Italian sculptor Ferdinando Pellichio added marble lions, and the city council installed memorial plaques describing historic events that happened here. Of particular note is the fact that the site served as a communication channel between the town's defenders during the Crimean War. • Along with a monument to the scuttled ships, the count's Quay is the most recognizable place of Sevastopol. I never really thought about why she has such a title. Learned this only gathered to write this review. One of the commanders of Sevastopol Squadron count Voinovich sometime in the late 18th century there here on the western shore of the South Bay. This place became the main Marina and the entrance to the city from the sea. A white Colonnade with leading thereto from the sea ladder is the best fit for this purpose. And guarding the Jetty Lions became family for many generations of Sevastopol and visitors to the city.

  • Entry (or exit) the count's Quay is impossible not to notice: snow-white columns privetstujut guest and seamlessly lead to ladder with "red carpet", guarded marble Lions offering beautiful views. No wonder the pier was the main entrance to the city from the sea. And today she never emptied, townspeople and tourists come here to just sit on the edge of a dock, put your feet into the water, talk with friends or just look away thoughtfully on the passing ships.
