Balaklava Bay, Sevastopol
(4.8/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web)
Surrounded by rocky hills and a small town, Balaklava Bay hosts several historical fortifications and one of the former Soviet Union's best-kept secrets. Explore the area around the sea by strolling through the quiet streets of the bay's namesake town, once the site of one of the Crimean War's most famous battles in 1854. Alternatively, visit the naval museum by the bay, housed in a formerly secret underground Soviet submarine base, to learn the inner workings of the USSR's Black Sea submarine fleet. • As if you get into the history of the USSR. If you in Balaklava. Be sure to visit the Museum. A walk on the evening promenade, where many restaurants and cafes, it's like the resort)

  • A small promenade ends in a fortress on the top of the Hill. Top has fantastic views. There is an interesting Museum of submarines, but getting there is not easy: from 8 am it is necessary to take a turn to get exposure in the afternoon. From the quay to the Museum only go to bypass the Bay, 15 minutes is not very pleasant route. On the waterfront there is a small market. There are many cafes, and touted on boat trips. There is even a beach, but we're there to swim not ventured:) local people say that they don't bathe.

  • Place historical and quite known. During the war there was built a secret underground dock for submarines. Minus all the tourist places in the Crimea-a complete mess, litter and dirt. The locals don't want to do is beautiful and pure
