Swallow's Nest, Gaspra

Perched right on the edge of a rocky cliff above the ocean, Swallow's Nest stands as one of the region's (and Ukraine's) most popular sights and most recognizable symbols. Originally built in 1912 by a wealthy German, the "castle" boasts ornate Neo-Gothic architecture. Visit the manor house and take a peek over the railing at the 40 m (130 ft) drop that descends directly into the Black Sea. Wander the grounds to take advantage of the panoramic view (the interior of the building is off-limits). Keep in mind that the hike from the parking lot to the structure is a long one, so wear comfortable shoes. So many conflicting reviews about the swallow's nest, that I wanted to leave my though was in Crimea in August 2016. Talk about the nuances and go or not-decide for yourself) + interesting history-Castle was founded in 1912, the year before that at this place were wooden houses and cottages, and plot changed several owners. + Cool views from the observation deck of the sea, rocks, mountains. + Possibility to get to sea-on a boat, boat, etc. Cost last year 300 rub/person, as it is now, not in the know. + For car owners-have a driveway. + Public transport also runs. -If you are on the public part of the journey will have to go on foot. -Narrow stairs climb, where it is difficult to Miss each other. -Many merchants, pretty much, prepare to zazyvalam etc.-Partially, dilapidated Pro repair heard nothing, so it's best to be careful. In General, visit worth-a symbol of the South coast, though the order of zaezzhennyj (who does not remember the cards from different years with characteristic views). A huge plus is the Majesty of the buildings is surprisingly varied architecture. Cool still earlier built))

Many steps down, so in the afternoon in the summer, and the best in the area of 17.00 (and at some time it closes, perhaps))). Confusion around the nest (in the form of unauthorized trading on Russian and Crimean concepts I'd disbanded a year ago, when visited it for the first time, a complete farm!). This is not a trade and not a café-this bacchanal, for fools. Merchants draw tourists (actually saw this scene), it comes almost up to the fight. There 4-6 point with water, coffee and ice cream for the eyes! Let 100 people will lose their jobs, but it would be such a shame. I've only seen in Luxor and near the Temple of Hatshepsut, where local tramps almost catch on you!

How do I liked here. You look and you can not to admire. This is a required dedication. Preferably on the boat. Swims up to the pier, go up 5 minutes. Opens the unreal beautiful and powerful panorama.

  • "On second thought , let’s not go to the Swallow's Nest. ‘Tis a silly place." Really overrated.
  • One of the most beautiful places in Crimea.
  • Stunning view, but overcrowded during Summers.
  • I was there in 2009. It is really stunning. I don't intend to return there in the future. I want to remember that place as Ukrainian !!!!
  • Iconic place.
