Swallow's Nest, Gaspra

Perched right on the edge of a rocky cliff above the ocean, Swallow's Nest stands as one of the region's (and Ukraine's) most popular sights and most recognizable symbols. Originally built in 1912 by a wealthy German, the "castle" boasts ornate Neo-Gothic architecture. Visit the manor house and take a peek over the railing at the 40 m (130 ft) drop that descends directly into the Black Sea. Wander the grounds to take advantage of the panoramic view (the interior of the building is off-limits). Keep in mind that the hike from the parking lot to the structure is a long one, so wear comfortable shoes. • At your arrival in Crimea we had compiled a small plan for visits. And the swallow's nest took it one of the first places. And while we have some information about it, in reality, swallow's nest even smaller than you would expect. But inside the place is so small that it is difficult to imagine how it was possible to live in such a small and Spartan furnished house. And yet at a distance, he is gorgeous and looks quite impressive and certainly not for nothing is considered a symbol of the Crimea.

  • Visit the Castle each of our arrival in Crimea, benefit, live side by side, within walking distance. The castle is beautiful from afar, it seems designed for paintings and photographs, so blends harmoniously with the nature. You must visit it at least once, for your own view. Don't believe the zazyvalam that go long, 2 thousand steps, etc., that are better on the car. Walking isn't complicated, we even found-500 with small steps in one direction, and they are not standing, then down, then up, then three steps, then 10. On the way, will be wholesalers, cafés where you can grab a bite to eat, Butterfly Garden (for a fee, of course). Near the Castle climb above, there are stairs, there are excellent views of the Castle a bit over the top. At the bus stop number suvernirnyh stores, one in a glass building (not just tents on the street)-our favorite, usually take souvenirs here. Here the specific platform overlooking the Castle. Take photos before taking a stroll to the swallow's nest. And from the bottom, go teplohodiki to Yalta, it is possible to combine two interesting walks.

  • A place where an unforgettable memory is forged. A castle hanging from the cliff high above the sea. It's something beautiful for any townsman who's yet to experience some exotic sights. A great opportunity to see live dolphins in their natural environment too! Doesn't offer any tourist attractions besides the breathtaking sights though. Definitely a must-visit if you're already in Crimea.
  • "On second thought , let’s not go to the Swallow's Nest. ‘Tis a silly place." Really overrated.
  • Overcrowded tourist place! One of the Crimean symbols.
  • One of the most beautiful places in Crimea.
  • I was there in 2009. It is really stunning. I don't intend to return there in the future. I want to remember that place as Ukrainian !!!!
