Swallow's Nest, Gaspra

(4.4/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
Perched right on the edge of a rocky cliff above the ocean, Swallow's Nest stands as one of the region's (and Ukraine's) most popular sights and most recognizable symbols. Originally built in 1912 by a wealthy German, the "castle" boasts ornate Neo-Gothic architecture. Visit the manor house and take a peek over the railing at the 40 m (130 ft) drop that descends directly into the Black Sea. Wander the grounds to take advantage of the panoramic view (the interior of the building is off-limits). Keep in mind that the hike from the parking lot to the structure is a long one, so wear comfortable shoes. Put Swallow's Nest into our Gaspra itinerary planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • With the sea swallow's nest looks quite attractive. We swam there on a small ferryboat that sails that departs each day from the town beach. Inside, of course, quite sad spectacle all some neglected, dilapidated, and see there's essentially nothing,

  • It was here in "Ukrainian" option when LH was a restaurant. very little castle on the cliff with spectacular sea views, Ayu-Dag. Fairly long climb from the pier on the ladder, but it's worth it. Definitely want to come back again, enjoy the beauty of this magical place.

  • Descent simply awful-public toilet 2000 long steps. View beautiful enough, but nothing incredible, in Crimea many relics that are more worthy of your attention.

  • I was there in 2009. It is really stunning. I don't intend to return there in the future. I want to remember that place as Ukrainian !!!!

  • Visit in 2007 cool place
  • Extremly interesting and unique. Ideal tourist destination except I found all signage and coversations in Russian with no possibility of explanations I requested during my visit. Requires much more promotion for travellers
  • Beautiful place - good for pictures!
