Military History Museum of Fortifications Balaklava Underground Museum Complex, Balaklava

#3 of 7 in Things to do in Balaklava
Step inside a nuclear fallout shelter at Military History Museum of Fortifications Balaklava Underground Museum Complex, which features submarine facilities, exhibits on the Crimean War, and an arsenal of weapons ranging from torpedoes to nuclear missiles. Located in an underground base below the mountains, the complex once possessed a highly sophisticated network of camouflaging equipment. Its protective systems kept it nearly indestructible--able to handle a direct hit by nuclear bombs. Here you'll see underground water channels with a dry dock, warehouses, and repair shops for the 21 submarines that could fit inside. Take a look at the exhibited warship models, naval equipment, and memorabilia. Dress warmly, as the temperatures here remain about 15 C (59 F) throughout the year. • One of the most amazing trips, the most extraordinary place, a secret facility .... as in other realities. Further many, many tourists, hurry up. If the fun walk study-day. Was already 3 times and always with pleasure. Tell a very interesting look interesting, read captures. Shakes it all together. One and a half hours as 5 minutes pass. It is impossible not to visit there, being in Sevastopol. Just don't forget warm clothes. When you exit, you can pass along the sea to the exit channel, as the tour ends are not there. And you can see it.

  • Been wanting to visit this museum. Guided tour of southern coast of Crimea, which we bought, unfortunately did not include a visit to this museum. Well, we had a free day, and we decided to spend it on this object. From the Novofedorovki bus arrived to Sevastopol, went along on the bottom battery, and Dak-Balaklava. And such a complicated way of achieving the goal of a fully paid for itself! Magnificent Museum! Wonderful excursion! Only exclamation points. Exposure to describe makes no sense, all you need to see with their own eyes. And it is remarkable that once top-secret object now available for tourists. However, after the collapse of the Soviet Union was a period when this object turned out to be useless, and looted it anyone who feels like it. If this does not happen, there would be much more interesting exhibits. But it was so wonderful to pass through tunnels, see the underground channel, where repaired submarines. Yes that tell, come and see it yourself.
