Uvita Beach, Uvita

4.2
#2 of 6 in Parks in Uvita
An unspoiled beach within the Marino Ballena National Park, Uvita Beach features a gently curving shoreline with clear blue waters. Dense plant life full of palm trees and mangroves line the beachfront, while further inland you'll find several waterfalls. Watch for migrating humpback whales on the ocean's surface or Hawksbill sea turtles coming ashore to nest. An abundance of marine life fills the waters, making this a good spot for snorkelling and diving. Take a kayak tour to check out the mangroves and surrounding estuaries. • A must stop if visiting the area! Perfect water temps, and great place to just chill. Lots of wildlife and seashells. Snorkeling by the whales tail was magnificent!  more »

  • Entrance of the national park not too expensive. Amazing beach!
  • Beautiful landscapes! A place you must visit in CR.
  • Beautiful beach, police patrol keeping tourists safe, not too many people, great spot.
  • Whale Tail Home!, Playa Uvita, also known as Marino Ballena National Park is located in Bahía Uvita, two miles east of the South Coast. It is among the most beautiful idyllic beaches on Costa Rica’s southern Pacific coast, the beach rimmed with palm trees. It is an excellent surfing spot for beginner surfers, as it has relatively calm waters. The entry fee to the Marino Ballena National Park is $ 6 for foreigners, and $ 2 if you are national or resident. Keep your ticket; it allows you to access Playa Uvita, Playa Colonia, Playa Ballena, and Playa Piñuela that same day. The Park is open from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm every day.
