  • My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at Bodhi and it was an incredible experience. Warm, engaging hosts made us feel at home at the lodge and part of the broader community. The yoga classes were magical - Pilar is a wonderful and sensitive teacher attuned to the needs of her students. I’ve been doing yoga for 20 years on and off but her passion has inspired me to inspired me to commit to a practice. We loved surf lessons with Travis. It was definitely out of our comfort zone but the instruction was so excellent that our confidence and comfort in the water grew quickly. Adrianne made amazing authentic meals that took into consideration our preferences and my allergy. It’s was such a pleasure to sit down and dine with the whole crew over her delicious meals. Gibran made the whole communication process so simple and clear and I felt like we had a relationship with him before we arrived. And the delightful intern Hannah is such a fun and enthusiastic presence day in and day out. All in all you feel like you’re being welcomed into this groovy, fun, passionate and open-hearted family for a week. It is a very special place. I didn’t expect to be so impacted by it, but I was. Highly recommended if you’re looking for an active, engaging and thought provoking vacation experience.
  • Bodhi Surf + Yoga is a mystical place. Lush tropical flowers and plants surround you. Birds sing you to sleep at night, and wake you up in the morning. The yoga platform sits among the treetops. It's a short walk to an unspoiled beach. No hotels. No beach chair rentals. Just palm and eucalyptus trees as far as the eye can see. Maybe the best beach in the world to learn to surf. The owners greet you. They treat you like family. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. No excess, but all you need and more. Pilar leads the yoga practices with grace and kindness. Pilar's yoga is the perfect compliment to the surf lessons. She also was cooking the week that I was there, and every meal was a pleasure. Travis is the surfer. At 62, I had no expectation that I would be able stand up on a surfboard in the water, much less actually surf. But with his patient guidance I was up and gliding through the water on my own by the end of the week. I've got a long way to go in my surfing journey, but Travis has provided the foundation. I left Bodhi yesterday. When I woke up this morning in San Jose on my way home, there were no birds singing, there was no breakfast prepared with love, there was no anticipation that this day would provide treasures even more beautiful than the last. The world feels like there is less color in it. By now, you may think that I am some kind of new age airhead. I'm actually a veteran trial lawyer. Most of my online reviews are warnings not to buy something or stay away from a terrible restaurant. However, Bodhi simply touched my soul. Thanks to all at Bodhi for such a beautiful experience. And, thank you Pilar and Travis for letting me be part of your family for a week.
  • Loved taking classes here! You learn not only surfing, but also history of the area and surfing , community and environment. Travis is a great teacher and advocate for surfers. Look no further for a school, they have it down. I now consider Travis a friend and someone to help me continue my surf education with.
  • Awesome experience, this place is paradise. Bodhi is so much more than a surf school. They are engaged in the community and in environment protection and it made my experience with them rich and inspiring.
  • Great experience for my first surf lesson! The instructors were all very fun and professional. Received good instruction and safety. I think we were a group of 10--and I believe that all of us got up on our boards. Great student/teacher ratio. I felt like I had a private lesson. They give you any help you need-but you definitely do it on your own. I would have been thrilled just getting up once, but I did several times--I absolutely loved surfing!!

When looking for accommodations in Uvita, access to the coastal national park is key. Many of the best places to stay are located on the streets just near the beach, offering views over the water and proximity to the national park's entrance. These bed and breakfasts, resorts, and guesthouses cater mainly to mid-range guests, but you can find more budget-friendly options in the center of town, on the other side of the coastal highway.
