Monkey Park, Tamarindo
(2.8/5 based on 140+ reviews on the web)
Give something back to Costa Rican wildlife while learning more about endangered animals at Monkey Park, a refuge center for sick and injured wild animals. Monkey species, including spider monkeys, share a home with marmosets, macaws, and ocelots at this facility. What the park lacks in terms of bells and whistles, it compensates for in goodwill, putting all proceeds towards maintenance of this vital wildlife rescue center. While the park is nonprofit and pro animal welfare, the sight of creatures in enclosed cages may still upset some people. Put Monkey Park into our Tamarindo travel itinerary maker and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • It was great quick trip to see local wildlife! A good time! The animals are being rehabilitated before the go back into the wild. The monkeys are super quick! And a beautiful oscolot!
  • The people who take care of this may be few, but their hearts are big. I understand the negative reviews, but they are only there because those people haven't met the team behind Monkey Park Sanctuary...  more »
  • The place is not of this world, but we had a very nice time with my family. I would not go but it is regular.

  • Walk through the park takes about 45 minutes. Bring water, a hat, and camera. Overall, great experience!
  • This is a great way to support the wildlife in CR. We were able to see so many different animals and birds and we're happy to donate to their cause. It's great to see Monkey Park helping the animals that are being displaced by development.
  • This is not a good place to take your kids, so boring. Not allowed to interact with the Ananias. I do not recommend
