  • Sixaola is reached the bus without any problems. At the border crossing, you must pay the Ausreisegbühr first at a kiosk to get the exit stamp then up at the Office of departure. Then, it's a bridge to Guabito. The Immigration Office on the left is from the bridge. The ignorance and clarity will be exploited by flying dealers who want to help at the entry market but only Shuttels.

  • Went for a drive here to see the border. Currently (January 2018) there is a large amount of construction happening here. They are putting a new bridge in place and although you can still cross the bo...  more »
  • Come on, seriously, in 2018 is inconceivable. Arrivals, maybe raining like crazy (normal around there) you are with your bags in the rain, go to pay for a currency without any shelter, uphill in mud up to the bridge. You start ... on the right side of the old bridge, you drag your bags until you arrive in Panama, row of almost an hour for his approval, coverage and guaranteed only for the front ones, themes for your bags, either because it completely sodden, either because the Ruby topics. Finally it starts? ... No, because who transports you expect other tourists lined up for visas. Then take your bags and put them on the rack, cover them, because otherwise they get wet ... grotesque! Nice, really nice? Ah .... they are building a third bridge, traffic, though we worked 3 workers, I think for the 2180 will be ready. Beautiful, just beautiful ...

  • This is the border between Costa Rica and Panama, in the Atlantic ocean side, at the Panamanian side you can get transportation to the popular beaches in Bocas Del Toro or to Panama City. If you you are at the Costa Rica side also you can get transportation to a beautiful beaches such as Puerto Viejo, Limon and others, or to San Jose City, be ready to pay in cash.
  • Probably the best international trestle bridge crossing I know of. One star off for the "pay this guy over here and then that fellow over there system".
  • Pretty cool to cross an international border on the aging bridge. I crossed in the summer of 2015, but I have heard that they have upgraded the bridge.
  • I had fun cossing this rickety disused railroad bridge with gaps between the planks. Waiting in line in the hot sun for a long time to get your exit tax verifed is less fun, and would be no fun at all if you forget to pay your exit tax. There's no need to buy seats on that shuttle van. The local buses work fine. Just remember to turn left after the drug-sniffing dogs on the Panama side and pay $3 each. Then walk UNDER the bridge approach and wait on the bench outside the supermarket for the local bus. We had a fun ride in an old crate with lots of chrome, reclining seats and daytime TV. BTW, Guabito is in Panama not Costa Rica. Sixaola is in Costa Rica. Easily confused, since both are funky border towns.
  • Very interesting experience here made :-) Bridge foot crossing, border...
