  • The square has the particularity that being in the center of the capital is busy by all kinds of people, both locals and foreigners who can appreciate both the beauty of our national theatre and shops and its surroundings, and in summer the majestic color of oak savanna trees that frame the place.

  • San Jose is just another large city without charm or a welcome feeling. Very run down streets and buildings. We didn't feel particularly welcome or safe, even during the day  more »
  • The Plaza is the roof over the Gold Museum, the side yard of the National Theatre (a treasure worth touring) and the edge of a busy walking street. As some reviewers have said, there's not much here, ...  more »

  • Important landmark in Costa Rican urban scene. Mildly dangerous due to criminality though.
  • I think the center of San Jose cture can be watched from here. If you like people wat hing, if you want to eat, a coffee, or something sweet, or even a museum, or the theatre, everything is around (or below) it. Many people goes around and through it on daily basis. Piece of advice, no matter where you are in the world, always take care of your belongings, not because it is this place, but because visitors tend to be less 'alert' in foreign places ;)
  • This is were everybody normally meets when doing downtown activities. The National Theater is part of the Plaza as is a museum down below. Open and his for the eye.
  • La pase bien
  • Classic place, you can see the real average Costa Rican
