  • This square is located at the same national theatre and in his basement is the gold Museum of the Central Bank. Front her Gran Hotel Costa Rica is also located. The square itself does not present major attraction

  • The plaza of the culture is the mandatory place to visit at San Jose Center. It is like any other place, many people, nearby shops. There are ice cream (I recommend Moyo or Pops), a Starbucks if you want to also use Wi-Fi while you are on holiday. Also in will find a McDonald's, clothing shops, bookstores, etc. At the same square is the National Theatre, another place to visit.

  • If you want the plaza for yourself, just- walk early morning when it is practically empty. In the afternoon or on weekends it is all very populated, not even a place to sit down for a moment’s rest. I...  more »

  • Nice, lively center of San Jose. There are usually lively musical events and spraying fountains for kids. The beautiful National Theater is located on one side of the Plaza; the Numismatic and Gold Museums are beneath the Plaza.
  • The people were nice and the location was convenient. The internet and cable were a plus.
  • This is a meeting place for a variety of crowds, it's usually packed around noon and later in the afternoon. It's located right next to the National Theater, and the Gold Museum. From here the National Museum is about five blocks away, making it a nice stop if you are walking in downtown San José. There's plenty of coffee shops and fast food restaurants around it. Probably the best place to eat here is the café in the theater.
  • beautiful building. If you are in San Jose thats a good place to meet with others or to take as a reference point.

Where to stay in San Jose

You'll find the majority of San Jose's accommodations between Parque Metropolitano La Sabana and the botanical gardens. This area offers luxury chain hotels in the west, simpler guesthouses in the older section of town in the east, and budget-friendly hostels located on side streets, just off from the primary commercial thoroughfares. Many hotels have sprung up close to the airport, located northwest of the city.
