Trip Planner: Central America / Costa Rica / Province of San Jose / San Jose Metro / San Jose / Parque La Sabana
Explore the area that Costa Ricans call 'the lungs of San Jose' during a visit to Parque La Sabana, a large metropolitan park. The 72 ha (177 acre) park is known as the home of the country's national soccer stadium, as well as many other sports facilities, including running and skating tracks, and soccer fields. Formerly the site of the country's main airport, the terminal building still stands, although it has now been converted into the national art gallery. Take a stroll around the artificial lake and through the wooded areas, spotting native plant life and birds. Make your San Jose itinerary with Inspirock to find out what to see and where to go.
Parque La Sabana reviews
Dirty, run down park with nothing in it. The ponds that show blue on the map are green algae covered unattractive pools. more »
I live close to Parque la Sabana--and walk my dog there just about every morning. It is a well maintained urban park, with excellent security. We have not had a problem--for years--there are guards.... more »
The lakes and water features are all dried up. Many of the art and sculpture has been vandalized and not maintained. The park is pro trolled by security on horseback and arc. more »
Great park for all activities. You can go for walk or run. There's a path for off road biking. There's an area for roller blades and all the court activities.
It's the largest urban park in San Jose... with museums, restaurants and hotels nearby. It can be unsafe after dark and even during the day if you are careless. There are efforts to keep it clean... but the average Costa Rican still doesn't care about littering public spaces.
Very big park. Took the triplets here lots of swings and slides in the north east corner. They have water you can rent like a pedal boat. Plenty.of locals selling fruits and other street food. 1000 colones for a.bottle.of water felt.steep but that ain't the parks fault.
A huge green park in the heart of San Jose, Costa Rica. It is where you can find Estadio National, Museo Arte de Costarricense and etc. People usually come on weekends to enjoy with family or play football or just stroll around the lake. Police office can also be found in the park securing tourists and park goers.
Great place for a bike spin and get some fresh air
