Nature / Park
Stroll around National Park (Parque Nacional) in the heart of San Jose. Escape the heat under a vast array of shady spots among the palms and deciduous trees. During the day courting couples and retirees can be commonly seen hanging out on the benches and picnic tables. Old monuments fill the park devoted to Latin American historical figures, and at the center sits the Monumento Nacional, a dramatic 1953 statue depicting the Central American nations driving out American filibuster William Walker. Put National Park (Parque Nacional) and other San Jose attractions into our San Jose vacation planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Guided tour of 2 hours with an official guide pays the entrance for a total of $ 70 pr 4. Very useful to have someone for explanations, to find the animals and show us to the twin

  • If you like wild nature, if you like to be alone to observe animals flee. On the other hand, if you want to see some animals, swimming, and be able to tap on all the trails, surrounded by hordes of other tourists walk, go for it! Strengths: many animals easy to see (sloths, monkeys, agoutis, raccoons), pretty beaches despite the fact that it is crowded. Weak points: development pushed to the extreme (paths completely concreted with ramps on each side, to be sure that you don't get away), huge crowd of tourists (it should queue for tickets at the entrance, even if we get to the opening, we're almost never alone on a path), the animals are almost more wild (all approach to try to get to eat (, or even come fly in your bag), pop-up scams on arrival parking (each offers its own parking lot whose prices vary), stirred you bottles of water and coconuts to sell before entering the Park. In short, tourism kill tourism, $ 16 for this park is too expensive for me, I advise you to go your way and see other more wild parks of Costa Rica and the Panama (which are great)

  • In many guidebooks, this park is noted as being the most visited Costa Rica, because without doubt the most beautiful. Of course, it is nice to see, but there are too many people, facilities are pushed to the extreme with slabs laid on the floor so that tourists do not dirty their shoes! A possibility is given to taxis to drive some of their clients to the middle of the Park! On the other hand, nature is generous, easy to see animals, and the gorgeous beaches! Convenience: arriving at 2 kilometers from the Park, people will stop you making you believe that the parking lot is at this place. Do you have. Continue your way. Parking is 200 meters from the entrance. (Almost $ 6!).

  • Good trails/paths, all with concrete. A lot of squirrels along the path. If you aren't lucky enough to watch the crater just be patient, sometimes there are holes in the fog that allows you to see the crater for a few minutes, sometimes seconds. My advice, go first to the lagoon, if the lagoon is clear you need to get back to the main crater because, in a couple of minutes, the crater will be clear (if there is wind). You can pay admission using credit card, but parking lot just using cash. Bring your camera!
  • One of the most beautiful beaches in Central America. Full of amazing wildlife - definitely get a guide so you can spot it all.
  • A beautiful Park. It's fairly large and great for light walks or just relaxing. Also nice for photo ops
  • This is one of many small parks located in the heart of San Jose, near some of the best local coffee shops make sure to grab a coffee and take walk through this park. Also near the train station that can move you quicker through Heredia and Cartago.
  • Nice monument and amazing street full of nice graffiti :)
