Many local artists sell their crafts here; talk to the vendors to ensure that what has caught your eye is an authentic product of Costa Rica. Mercado Municipal De Artesanias reviews
I visited this market mainly to kill some time and have a look and why not, maybe even buy something if I found something nice and unique. The market was very quiet so all vendors had nothing to do... more »
We visited this old market with a guide on a walking tour of central San Jose. It houses a large number of traders offering a huge range of products. We sampled a delicious tortilla and superb ice... more »
Sensory overload of junky trinkets and fast-talking vendors. Stall after stall of all the same thing. With the "Artesnias" we were expecting / hoping for even just a bit of local-made items, but... more »
A great stop to take care of all your souvenir needs. There's lots of side by side shops, many of which offer the same things, so don't buy as soon as you enter: walk around. Also, everything is negotiable, and be sure to know what exchange rate you are being offered.
This is a great spot for tourists to go to get every little knick-knack that they want to get to take back home to their loved ones they literally have every little thing that you might need or might not need
Very well organised market, they need to do a better job marking out the stuff made in CR/Central America vs. the rest. Lots of cool local stuff to be had, especially the masks and hand painted wooden crafts.
