Los Campesinos Reserve, Quepos

4.1
In the heart of the jungle, Los Campesinos Reserve offers the joy of being in a truly remote place accessible only by 4WD transportation. The rough terrain and the necessity to cross a hanging bridge make this attraction unsuitable for young children and inexperienced hikers--it's best to come here with a trained tour guide familiar with the area. Once you get there, enjoy the view of the magnificent falls and take a dip in the natural pools, then hike through the rainforest preserve to see many species of trees and plants, most of which the locals use for food and/or medicine. Finish your visit by dining on the cuisine prepared by the area's native cooks. • Very bumpy ride (approx. 70 min each way) from Quepos out. I strongly recommend an off-roader (even if it has been raining), but it is necessary and very carefully with a normal vehicle (careful with the pot holes). Enter the Los campesinos EcoLodge in Google maps. At the reception you pay approx. 8-10 $ per person and then you can go. The routes are relatively short (but sometimes steep; walking shoes and flip flops for the pools take), you can handle the "Park" without stops (no swimming) theoretically in 30 minutes. The ride is absolutely value. Two natural cascade swimming pools, two waterfalls await you, in which you bathing can (bathing suit Pack). A pool can be reached only via an approx. 170m long and 40m-high suspension bridge. The bridge is in a very good condition, you can actually do not complain about. This Park is amazing, because it is still a well-kept secret and is not as crowded as the Manuel Antonio National Park. An absolute must, we could believe our luck not!

  • The staff is friendly, buy the meal, swim in the water, take the suspension bridge, most of all enjoy the drive there. The roads are a hoot and there is lots of stuff to see along the way. If in Quepo...  more »
