Frogs Heaven, Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui

4.7
#2 of 12 in Parks in Province of Heredia
Encounter scores of exotic Caribbean amphibians at Frogs Heaven, a tropical garden home to over 20 species of frog. Take a guided tour to illuminate your visit with interesting information on colorful species, including red-eyed tree frogs, poison dart frogs, and a host of more obscure types endemic to Costa Rican wet forest. Watch for unusual-looking species, such as the wrinkly Mexican tree frog and the translucent glass frog. Bird-watchers should also bring a pair of binoculars to catch sight of a number of avian species in the gardens. Reserve at least a day ahead as the gardens may be fully booked due to popularity. Take a look at our Sarapiqui road trip tool to schedule your visit to Frogs Heaven and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • The enthusiastic owners through their self created Empire and connect with their enthusiasm. Have seen many frogs and other animals on our night tour. There was also a small tour of the garden. Tip!

  • Today frog's Heaven visited. Definitely recommended. We were shown around by the owner José. Advance was said to be about 1, 5 h persisted but we are at least 2, 5 h on path with José. In addition to the fantastic animals we were allowed to taste different fruits and herbs. A man who full of passion you can tell everything. Pure enjoyment!

  • Jose has done a fine job of recreating habitat for frogs and other creatures. Fun and informative off-the-beaten path activity.
  • A super Guide, which are frogs in the wild, hummingbirds and other birds are also found. We have also seen a sloth in the tree. The $25 us were not too expensive!

  • It was really nice! One of the tours that the most I liked in Costa Rica. The Guide and owner were on the ground and looked both with best knowledge of ourselves and the animals. You show an extraordinary frogs you can get only with luck to face. In doing so, they deal very well with animal welfare and dampen the frogs every few seconds when they appear. It's almost like a giant Endangered frogs to breed garden in the back yard, where they try to maintain the population. This was rounded off with a delicious fresh fruit star fruit juice and tasty coffee. A dream!
