  • You have to book in advance by means of SINAC website and it can become very tedious, also if you want to spend the night (is almost mandatory to have time to arrive and climb the Hill) you must do it in the hostel Los Crestones and is another reserve, at the hostel you can not cook so plays to buy food (there are packages that include food). The cost of the hostel is quite high considering that includes only the bed, pillow, blanket and bathrooms. If you want something extra, you have to pay extra. We could not make the payment in the Bank for the hostel, made it by credit card at the office the day of rise. There are that have perseverance and patience to make them reserves... to the get to the Chirripo, earned the penalty both tangle. The place is beautiful and peaceful, you find silence among so much nature. I went during the rainy season, the km 1-3 found much mud which made more difficult road. Don't underestimate the way, must have determination.

  • We have just a two-day Chirripo tour behind us. Here the most important facts: registration: the registration is no longer in the Ranger Station, but on the homepage of sinac. There you have to register and also just pay (online, by credit card). At the end of the registration you will receive a registration code, which you at the Ranger Station (located at the top of San Gerardo, bus drivers can get a da) must show. There is obtained a ticket for the park entrance fee. With this you can then to a different Office (on the road high, before the football field), to reserve the accommodation in the Park (you have to pay will also immediately). If it of up here made it has, the climb of the Chirripos nothing stands in the way: p cost: the whole thing is a rather expensive fun. The park entrance fee is per person and day $18. Since you spend so often two days in the park that makes $36. The night in the accommodation costs around $35 (19000 colon) and if you would like to eat come per breakfast around $10 (5000 Colón) and for the lunch / dinner around 13$ 6250 colon) Add. Because it was too expensive to us we brought our food (but no guest kitchen, is bring only cold things). We have given us only dinner in the accommodation which was however disappointing. Because it was made with "typical" costa of Rican cuisine advertising. We've got Spaghetti Bolognese. And for $13! Park: The park itself is beautiful and the roads well marked. The rise has some stressful passages to the accommodation, and even problems with the height can. The rise of the accommodation up to the Cerro Chirripo is challenging especially in the last part, because it is very steep (have almost to climb) and very windy and cold (take absolutely weatherproof clothing). The climb to Cerro Chirripo is recommended especially in the morning before sunrise (between 2.30 and 3:00 at the hotel break up). The view is breathtaking! Accommodation: 4-dorm with bunk beds and lockers (sleeping bag incl). Shower with cold water (really cold!). In the lounge there are tables and benches, as well as in the outdoor area. Kitchen for staff only. Staff was more with himself busy as with the guests. Conclusion: Who may like to challenging hikes, and the money is not too bad, which should make the hike. Especially the sunrise on the Cerro Chirripo compensated some advance many.

  • First, it must be said clearly that the registration for the national park entrance, as well as the reservation of the accommodation prove cumbersome as zimlich. First you have to the Internet (only enters the Internet, become a suburb strick fact hingewiessen that it is possible only in the intrnet) register and the desired data registered. Park entry costs per day and person. incredibly $18! Payment only by credit card. Connect or upon arrival you must be picked up the ticket at the Ranger Station (at the entrance of the village of San Gerardo de Rivas). If you want Basecamp Crestones Übwrnachten you must Cook the remaining ticket to the Office of the private lodge operator at the football field (approximately in the Centre of the village, 10-15 min walk) who book accommodation and the desired meals and pay. The bed in 4-bed rooms with bunk beds, shared bathroom with only cold water cost proud $35 per pers. Self-catering is possible at the base camp only with sandwiches or similar. There is no kitchen and no skis: zurverfügung. The food can be ordered if necessary (while supplies last) at short notice on the lodge itself and paid. Coffee, tea will cost around $2. Tap water is surprisingly enough (yet) free! Well unterhaltener, the hike: hiking trail, approximately 14.5 km long, at about 2100 m ascent up to the lodge. Length of time from San Gerardo around 6-8h. The hiker will requires a solid Grundkontition. From the lodge several hiking trails on different Summit, varying in length (each ca. 2-4 h). Caution at night, the Termometer just above the freezing point are insbesondete during the early morning ascent to the Summit can.

  • I met through the NPTC (national tourist award program). Almost all my life I've been adventurous. I liked the change in temperature, altitude, the difference to the breathing, the diversity of the flora. The different views... From the top you feel more than free. If you like nature, you must be here; This is something fascinating. That day I understood xq told you Gaby q should occur with the Chirripo chest... Jajajajaja... By the way, visit Fraijanes, volcano Poas, Irazu volcano, Arenal Volcano Tiquicia thanks!
