Nature Observatorio, Manzanillo

5.0
Observe panoramic views of Costa Rican jungle at Nature Observatorio, a privately-owned treehouse at the heart of lush forest. The treehouse is a modern and safe construction with two floors suspended by nylon straps, and follows an eco-friendly principle whereby the huose is removed and built onto another tree to preserve the life of the forest. Treks to the treehouse usually take around 30 minutes on-foot through biodiverse jungle, before climbing to the top of the treehouse for an excellent reward of panoramic views spanning the jungle and Caribbean Ocean. The trail can be pretty muddy, so be sure to wear appropriate footwear. • The best guided tour in Costa Rica! I traveled to Costa Rica with two boys and their biggest experience was TreeHouse. Lots of animals, like frogs, lizards, butterflies and birds ... and at the end of the tour we saw the toucan! Climbing the tree was also a great experience for me. It was not easy, but children (9, 11) had no problem climbing up or down. Thanks for expirience! Martin& sons
  • Probably the most exciting and fascinating thing you can do being around Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo. Forget about beaching around and climb the best tree house you've ever seen with first class jungle guides :)
  • Had a great stay here. Peter was a fantastic host, and gave us 2 great tours to and from the treehouse. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience that we won't forget, and wins the award for the most unusual place I've ever stayed! Highly recommend staying here.
  • What an experience! Peter, the owner/guide was great. Be prepared for a 45-60 minute hike in (not hard, but some slippery and steep sections). Then the climb up an 80ft rope to the treehouse (you use a ratchet/rope/belay setup that makes it the equivalent of doing 30-40 squats). The treehouse is spacious and airy, with 360° views, hammocks and beanbags, a rainwater-fed shower, and comfortable mattresses with excellent mosquito nets. Our neighbour for the night was a sloth in the next tree over. Unparalleled views of the surrounding canopy.
