Tabacon Hot Springs, La Fortuna de San Carlos
(4.2/5 based on 3,000+ reviews on the web)
Soak in the volcanic surroundings at Tabacon Hot Springs, a spa resort in the heart of Costa Rica's rainforest. The five-star complex provides luxurious and relaxing experiences in a natural setting, right at the base of a mighty volcano that destroyed a nearby village in the 1960s. Dormant for the last few decades, the volcano now provides a scenic backdrop for five different hot springs, with temperatures ranging between 25 C (77 F) and 50 C (122 F). Naturally heated by the volcanic soil, a thermal river flows through the resort and forms several small waterfalls and swimming pools. • We arrived around 4 pm. Admission is $ 60 per person. We ask the host a small discount because we are only an hour. The price goes to $ 45. We accept. It shows us the way. Locker room and towels provided, we explore places. It's beautiful! A lot of basin. A bar in the middle of the pool. Finally we are staying until 7 p.m. for a few cocktails at $ 9. It's expensive but it's great quality service.

  • The Tabacón has built its hot springs around the natural flow of the volcano here. The water heated by the volcanic flows thus through the Tabacón hot springs and leaves the plot at the end, where the river moves on its trains. Beautiful Hot Springs Spa and Shangri La area created (this is so I think, exclusively for hotel guests and 18 +). We were guests in the hotel at the same time and went to dinner at approximately 19:00 to the hot springs. And also here, everything completely available and you are even more surprised with a tumbler for the swimwear, otherwise always wet packs and taken back. Super detail! The basin is the hot springs - this that is actually natural river - filled with small and pleasant stones. Larger alternate this and you should be careful not to push the toes. There is enough space for everyone. During our visit, many people were present, it was distributed very well, because the hot springs are quite large. Here one hears no loud music as in others and so you can relax perfectly. In addition to thermal water, there are also cooler mineral water, where you can cool off something. The whole system is super, I have seen nothing comparable. And you'll be surrounded by flora and fauna - wonderfully!

  • The only reason we bought dinner was because the website said all day pass, lunch and pass, or dinner and pass. At the actual site you can just pay to enter without buying a meal or all day pass. Wish...  more »
