Free Natural Hot Springs, La Fortuna de San Carlos
(4.4/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
Maneuver around jagged rocks to find a spot at Free Natural Hot Springs. Because the hot springs are often crowded with tourists and locals (even in the late evening), be ready to hike a little upstream if you prefer a more peaceful, secluded spot. For those that want to swim at night, bring a flashlight, because there are no light sources here. If you plan to stay awhile, bring along drinks and snacks. Wear comfortable shoes, as the jagged rocks can be painful to walk on. • This was a free activity, which is a plus. I recommend keeping your waterproof footwear on because the stream bed is rocky on feet that aren't used to being naked. We were there just before sundown, w...  more »
