Tour the private bio-reserve of Ecocentro Danaus. Just outside La Fortuna, the eco-center is made up of 3 ha (7.4 acres) of Costa Rican rainforest. Choose from a couple of tours, including a night walking trip through the forest, or explore the reserve by yourself. The well-marked trails provide a great opportunity for birdwatching and spotting animals, as the forest is inhabited by three-toed sloths, coatis, and more than 150 avian species. Along the way you can enjoy the lush vegetation and colorful flowers, while after the tour you can visit the herbal garden, butterfly sanctuary, and the ranarium, which houses poison dart frogs. • The first thing I think of is well managed. It has all, animals and visitors, it's a good idea. The animals do not need to be here but they get fed so they stay happy. Great to see how dedication pays off!

  • On a very small surface area has created a green world with a multitude of plants and animals. Easily accessible and quiet, a great way to get an insight into Costa Rica's great nature.

  • Recommended to us by our guide on Samara Trails. Didn't disappoint. Knowledgeable guide who made the whole experience interesting and enjoyable.
  • Not overly impressed with this place, it was a small area that if you walk normally you would finish within 20 minutes. We saw a few Birds, a lizard, some rats, and a sloth.. We did this without a guide and found that we saw the most animals and birds at the end when the workers fed some bananas on a feeding stand. The trail was pretty poorly maintained and marked. Overall I found this place a little expensive
  • Not worth it was very small I didn't see anything interesting and be aware of mosquitoes they will hunt you make sure to spray the uncover area of your skin.
  • This little forested area has an amazing amount of wildlife. Just waiting for the walking tour to start we saw dozens of birds, reptiles, and small mammals. The main attraction are the sloths, which can be difficult to spot up in the tree-tops, but the knowledgeable and patient guides have telescopes to help you get a better view. The tour can take a bit longer than expected (1 to 2 hours), so be sure that you're interested before starting.
