  • I got great knowledge about sloths from the tour ($30). Most of the sloths here are injured, disable and caged, which is kind of depressed. The canoe ride was nice, but I couldn't see nature sloths who are 200 yards away from the boat though. If you expect to be close with animals or walk around and see animal run freely, this place is a no-no. I recommend you go to Jaguar Rescue Center instead.
  • They are doing really great work at this sanctuary and while it was an enjoyable trip and I would encourage you to go the tour guide we had was a bit too into analogies to other animals rather than taking about the sloths and easily strayed off topic entirely. He was however personable and fun. I just like my facts served straight up Attenborough style.
  • We had a great time here, learning about sloths and seeing them up close. We also saw howler monkeys, a "Jesus lizard", a Cayman, and more sloths while taking the boat tour. Afterwards, head to Cahuita for lunch and a swim in the ocean
  • Heard so many bad stories of locals about this place, did not want to contribute to a sacruary where they put sloths in cages. Please also read the article in the Independent about this Sloth Sanctuary. In Chauita national park we saw 13 sloths and many more animals in a single walk with a tour guide. Would strongly recommend to do this and see the animals in their real environment.
  • Great experience and learning opportunity. The peaceful boat ride is a bonus with chances to view monkeys, sloths, and other animals.
