  • We visited the shrine which is another private initiative dedicated to the knowledge and help of sloths. We received the tour in English with a native guide, with a super fluent English and knowledgeable about biology and habits of these animals. The talk was extremely enriching to learn about these animals. It is worth!

  • We visited the shrine with my partner at the end of May. They offer a boat ride which is of the most charming, but eye, ask questions of the Guide because but is a fairly quiet ride. In the Sanctuary are in recovery, so animals are in cages. The guide explains all super good! Not to be missed in Cahuita.

  • The sloth sanctuary was the "centrepiece" of my visit to Costa Rica and everything else was planned around it. It did not disappoint. I participated in the basic Buttercup tour and the Behind the Scen...  more »

  • I got great knowledge about sloths from the tour ($30). Most of the sloths here are injured, disable and caged, which is kind of depressed. The canoe ride was nice, but I couldn't see nature sloths who are 200 yards away from the boat though. If you expect to be close with animals or walk around and see animal run freely, this place is a no-no. I recommend you go to Jaguar Rescue Center instead.
  • Great boat ride in the jungle followed by visiting g the sloths. Even saw a sloth in the wild...plus alligators, lizards, crabs (a lot) and much more. Very much recommended.
  • This place is horrible . They are sloth abusers !! Do extensive research BEFORE you go. Terrible.
  • They are doing really great work at this sanctuary and while it was an enjoyable trip and I would encourage you to go the tour guide we had was a bit too into analogies to other animals rather than taking about the sloths and easily strayed off topic entirely. He was however personable and fun. I just like my facts served straight up Attenborough style.
  • A great place to spend some time learning about sloths and seeing them up close.
