  • Nice natural park and Cauita beach access, no access fee (can and should give a gift but is not required). The track we can only go about 2 of 8 kilometres because it was high tide and it was not possible to cross the River (or at least the first River) which flows on that beach and being discouraged swim along the mouth because of a possible crocodile after we were on the beach enjoying the Sun, we saw howler, capuchin monkeys and a coati , a guatusa-I don't know the name in Portuguese-some lagartinhos but no snakes. The beach of white sand and warm water is good but the water was muddied by the proximity to the mouth of the river.

  • Beautiful, well maintained national park, with main trail running between the sea and forest that’s kept exclusively for fauna and flora. Great that the NP has been kept ‘donation only’ to ensure it’s...  more »
  • Had taken a guide for 10000 Col on the spot, then an hour who accompanied us. Saw this raccoon and iguanas. Going but also alone. Nice way with river crossings, Palm trees and beaches. Best way back and run back, takes 3-4 hours.

  • A bohemian and exuberant ambient is expecting you in Cahuita. Enjoy the white sand beach and the nicely paved streets. This small town has everything to relax and forget about work for a weekend.
  • I am so glad we came back. First time here was rainy season and were a little disappointed; second time around with sun and no clouds was stunning though. Good trek next to the beach and nice tropical/jungle views. Good activity for the day.
  • IMPORTANT: if you enter via the southern gate (as suggested in an earlier review) you'll be required to pay $5usd per person. This is the vehicle gate and is administered by a separate municipality. Otherwise we enjoyed the park a lot. Walking the opposite way meant we saw howler monkeys, a 2 toed sloth, a yellow hanging viper (amongst the green and yellow leaves right by the trail - look out!), small hawks, coconut crabs, pelicans, a coati, white faced capucins, various types of local squirrel. Walk slowly and quietly and its pretty amazing what's there to spot!
  • This is a nice place to stop when cruising to this port. The people explained how chocolate is made in this country which is very different than what we are used to. They also walk you around and show you the native plants and how they are used medicinally. The guides the cruise line used were very good.
  • Beautiful park! Free entry which is nice! The beach is very pretty in this area, not as pretty as the pacific side of Costa Rica in my opinion but still nice.
