Cataratas Llanos de Cortes reviews
We stopped at this waterfall on our way from Liberia to Rio Celeste. There were more locals than tourists, which I think is a good sign. We used Waze to find it, and it was super simple. It wasn't... more »
Entry fee is $7 or 4,000 colones per person. There is a park employee at the entrance gate and another under a tarp watching the parking lot. We left a car with our luggage and there seemed to be two.... more »
This is a gorgeous waterfall with a fun swimming area. At the freeway turnoff we were stopped by a man in a white shirt with photos of the waterfall. He directed us to go 2 km past the large cement... more »
We went to the local side and paid a "donation" instead of the government side. It's $7 for the main entrance and pay what ever you want for the other side. We asked the guys at the turn off what's recommended and they said, pay $4 a person. So we did. At the parking lot they wanted to give us tour guide, we said we would be fine. It's a 5 min walk and see no reason to have to follow someone who probably expects a tip
We really enjoyed our morning at the waterfall. There are two places to park to get access to the waterfall. One we were told charges you $7 to access it which is the first entrance you signposted to it and the other which is by donation to the local community which is how we accessed it. For this entrance you had to drive on further once you left the highway until you cross a river and enter a village. You turn right just before the soccer field and follow the signs to the waterfall. From the car park it is a trail(shoes rather than flip flops recommended) to two waterfalls. One small one where you can jump in to a pool from and the main waterfall which was beautiful. It was fairly busy when we visited just after Christmas but not overcrowded. You can't swim right up to the fall as it is cordoned off.
Definitely pay the 7$ entry fee - cheaper with student ID - as its faster, easier on your car, and has security in the parking lot (not necessary but nice). Easy walk down - very impressive to see, we didn’t swim as there were a lot of families and wasn’t sure about the water cleanliness.
This place is very nice. It's a waterfall in the middle of nowhere with a pond beside it. Very nice to take a swim in
Beautiful waterfall with a very large shallow pool to wade in. Surrounded by green forrest. Beautiful.
