Cerro Chato (Chato Volcano), Arenal Volcano National Park
(4.2/5 based on 460+ reviews on the web)
Climb Cerro Chato (Chato Volcano), an inactive volcano covered in lush greenery. Believed to have erupted for the first time 38,000 years ago, the volcano last saw activity approximately 3,500 years ago--making it an entirely different proposition to its noisy neighbor, Arenal. Take one of the two routes to reach the top and see the lagoon of green water in its crater. Most regard the hikes as relatively tough for beginners, and the paths can become particularly muddy and dangerous when it rains. • Two "hotels?" located in the departures of the two paths appropriated the mountain and ask for rights of way! Given the State of the roads, difficult to imagine on the $ 13 admission, more than a dollar to be dedicated to them has. Or will the remaining$ 12? Who cares your mouth! Other than that, fantastic hike that is really worth. This is the principle that irritates. Then pay but bitch! Technical hiking. Many arrived at the top but were unable to get off bathing in the crater as it was too slippery and yet it was fine.

  • As you have already mentioned this climb is very hard, within two hours of hard to reach the crater there are occasions in which you practically have to climb, the final to reach the crater slope is very steep at least by where I went not is if there is another less hard route. You make a mess you, you wet with rain, but arriving at crater lake makes the effort worthwhile. You can take a bath the water is fresh but nice, so preferably you have to bring a change of clothes. Indispensable to bring water, a light snack is not of more to regain strength. But if not enjoy good physical condition avoid making the journey. Charge 12 USD and make you sign a waiver of liability should an accident happen.
