El Viejo Wetlands, Area de Conservacion Guanacaste
Categories: Wildlife Areas, Nature & Parks
Discover a lush tropical paradise in a family-owned sustainable refuge at El Viejo Wetlands. Several guided tours, both overland and along the river, offer a great way to observe the local wildlife. Take the boat tour and see iguanas, crocodiles, and capuchin monkeys in their natural habitat, or get active and embark on a bicycle tour winding through dry forest, ripario forest, and lagoon. You can also learn more about sugar cane production and local indigenous history on the cultural tour. All tours include fresh fruits, tea, coffee, and other snacks. Browse through handmade jewelry at the cultural center; your purchase helps artisans from poor communities.
