  • This is a relatively new museum in Muri. Most of the display is by way of banners telling the story of Rarotonga. Knowledgeable and friendly staff on hand to talk to. I thought they could do with...  more »
  • I thought I knew quite a bit about the Polynesian voyages around the Pacific but there was a LOT that I learnt at this museum. Much of it thanks to Stan who could not possibly have been more helpful.....  more »
  • Lovely museum, cafe and gift shop. Cafe food and coffee very tasty. Guided tour of the museum recommended. Kids were 5 and nearly 8 and didn’t last all that long unfortunately. Beautifully presented.  more »

  • Did not know of this earlier but it is a must for good food and good coffee. Did not go into the museum but it looks from what I saw.
  • Great place to visit and learn about early Maori history. Well informed and pleasant staff always willing to assist and answer question. Also serves great coffee.
  • This museum is worth the visit. Although small, the information is very well presented and if you are interested about the polynesian migrations and the Cook island governance and formation it is great.
  • This place is bad mockery of what museum is. Plagiarized art, information copoes from Wikipedia and latest by not least a steep entry fee of $15. This place is no way associated with the Cook Islands Govt and is lining it's pockets from unbeknown tourist. If you want a history lesson go to a show and speak with the local elders. They'll be very accommodating and happy to share their knowledge.
  • Make sure you include a trip to the museum in your plans while on Rarotonga! The museum is inconspicuous from the outside, but it's a gem on the inside, with actually quite a lot to see and the exhibits are nicely presented. It's a great way to learn about the history and people of the Cook Islands. And chatting with the on site guide, Stan, was a major highlight, we learned so much! As a bonus you can enjoy great coffee, snacks or a sandwich before and/or after at the attached cafe.
