#6 of 6 in Nature in Cook Islands
Island · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
An island famed for appearing in reality television shows, the uninhabited Moturakau boasts lush natural scenery and blue waters ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and boating. Take a short jungle walk through the island forest and look for various plants and birds. As you walk across the warm sand, keep an eye out for coconut crabs. Though harmless, these creatures can pinch your feet with surprising strength. Reach the island by joining a lagoon tour or by renting a boat in Aitutaki.
