Witness one of the most remarkable and unusual religious sites in South America at Salt Cathedral. Located 200 m (656 ft) under ground, this church was carved out of rock inside a salt mine used for over a millennium. Opened in 1995, the architectural wonder attracts thousands of pilgrims and tourists who come to admire the statues, reliefs, and icons made from salt. The cathedral is part of a larger complex called the Salt Park, which includes a museum and numerous designs carved from salt. • The Salt Cathedral is impressive by the architecture, the symbolism that is handled, the use of salt in everything what is observed. Worth going, admire, take pictures, but above all, use the guides to make sense of the visit. the tours are in English and Spanish and the tip is voluntary.

  • The beauty of this Cathedral is that it is unique. I've never seen anything like it. She is inside a salt mine, underground. Worth checking out for being different, but it is far from Bogota.

  • I marvel that it meets mining, architecture, art and spirituality. Very good reception and guide included in the entrance ticket.
