4.6/5 based on 150+ reviews on the web
Appreciate the understated early colonial architecture of Iglesia de Nuestra Senora del Rosario, constructed on the orders of the king of Spain in 1608. The history of this traditional Spanish-style Dominican church includes the baptism of San Mateo hero Antonio Ricaurte, the first meeting of the First Congress of the United Provinces of New Granada, and the burial of General Antonio Nariño, who fought for national independence. Admire the exterior's whitewashed adobe walls and stone tower, and enter to see Baroque artworks and pieces by colonial painters Gregorio Arce y Ceballos and Jerome Steel. Spend some time taking in local life in the attractive cobblestone plaza stretching out from the church. • Very interesting insight into how the slaves were bludgeoned into Christianity from the various frescoes. Nice quiet place for reflection as to how the local people were treated.
  • its facade is very llamativa.pero inside is not so attractive, do not have much religious art but is nice, sometimes giving mass and you can them leverage and so be with God.
