  • Guided tour and well commented, beautiful exhibits. Do not go to El nearby Fosil making duplicate, but without comments

  • It first that us receives to the get to the CIP is a reconstruction of an Ammonite giant that us allows appreciate the complexity of this animal prehistoric of which only is preserved fossil of shells. Once the row of the box office, we are in the interior of the building, which houses several thematic sections and the laboratory of cleaning and reconstruction of fossils in a single level. It is a titanic project, directed by the paleontologist Colombian Mary Luz Parra, who with his kindness and patience explains to visitors the work that is done there, to preserve this cultural wealth of our past with criteria and scientific techniques. A map us shows as was this region in the antique, until where came the sea and us allows understand because this valley of the dinosaurs could keep so many specimens marine. From small fossils of leaves and fruits, even fossils of gigantic serpents and prehistoric alligators, lead us to an amazing trip to the past. A visit not to be missed in this spectacular destination tourism that is Villa of Leyva. Cost: COP$ 10,000 per person (entry) distance of Villa de Leyva: 5.2 km

  • Knowledgeable guides make a difference here. Two of us joined three other people to listen to their English-speaking guide. We learned a lot about the exhibit and the research that is going on in the Center. Even though they have labels in English, still you get a lot more information from the guide. Don't miss this opportunity, especially since you probably won't have a guide at the nearby El Fósil . This place (the Center) is much more informative about different kinds of fossils that can be found in the area, so go see the giant dino at El Fósil first, and then come to this Center to see other kinds of fossils and get valuable information. Both sites together will take less than two hours, maybe even an hour of you are in a hurry and don't spend much time at El Fósil and leave the Center right after the guided tour (assuming that you are lucky and don't have to wait (we did not)).
