Casa Terracota, Villa de Leyva

See a building displaying a rather odd but charming architectural style at Casa Terracota. Designed by Colombian architect Octavio Mendoza, the house was sculpted out of clay, then fired at a high temperature to make it water and earthquake resistant. Completed in 2012, the building displays a distinctly Gaudi-influenced style, with undulating features, organic shapes, and mosaics. Take a tour of the building and snap photos of the eccentric design and handcrafted interior decor created to match the style of the exterior. • Absolutely worth seeing. Here, an artist with organic shapes and terracotta has been out. Really interesting and smart.

  • A nice House that leads us to believe at the time of the Pica stone. Costs 10,000 Colombian pesos entrance; a little expensive for the little time that takes to go home.

  • Big dream and persistence of the architect who designed and made reality this House, made from the elements provided by nature itself and the labor of many people for many years. Great design in the decoration. It should be enough observer to appreciate every detail. There are boys who serve as guides and feature the history and process of the House until today, Jimmy the most recommended. Super recommended visit.

  • I don't understand the "too expensive" or "not worth the visit" comments. This place is simply mind blowing.. Go for it!
  • It's just missing a better guiding 'system'
  • Amazing house! So unique and just incredibly beautiful.
  • It's a beautiful place, not spectacular, but still an interesting place to visit.
  • Is worth seeing it. We paid 10'000 COP and spend 2 hrs in this house. The house is really made with love and a lot of details
