Casa Terracota, Villa de Leyva
(3.8/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
See a building displaying a rather odd but charming architectural style at Casa Terracota. Designed by Colombian architect Octavio Mendoza, the house was sculpted out of clay, then fired at a high temperature to make it water and earthquake resistant. Completed in 2012, the building displays a distinctly Gaudi-influenced style, with undulating features, organic shapes, and mosaics. Take a tour of the building and snap photos of the eccentric design and handcrafted interior decor created to match the style of the exterior. • It is impressive, leave you out of $10,000, but they do not explain anything, not a guide, or a document that expresses something. I went to horse and back my equine guide told me the story. Incredible!

  • many nice details - by colourful mosaics in the bathrooms to elaborate grilles, furniture and lamps made of metal with insect motifs. Pleasantly cool inside.

  • Therefore it is worth to see it, without being anything from another planet. The entrance is worth $10.000 COP per person, somewhat expensive. It runs through in 5 minutes and ready. He doesn't have to be beautiful and very original. But if I have to choose between visit and go to other places in the region, I would think it twice.

  • Definitely worth the trip! The house reminds me quite a bit of a house out of Beetlejuice. Really amazing artwork inside and out!
  • Go there ! It's beautiful and unique. Real art 👌.
  • Nice place to visit, is very peculiar and great for some pics.
  • Looks good close to the Villa you can do a healthy walk, ride a horse or even with your bike
  • Interesting stop in our cycle. 10000pesos entrance. Would not go out of the way to see it but some one has put a lot of work in to it.
