Casa Terracota, Villa de Leyva

Categories: Architectural Buildings, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
3.9/5 based on 460+ reviews on the web
See a building displaying a rather odd but charming architectural style at Casa Terracota. Designed by Colombian architect Octavio Mendoza, the house was sculpted out of clay, then fired at a high temperature to make it water and earthquake resistant. Completed in 2012, the building displays a distinctly Gaudi-influenced style, with undulating features, organic shapes, and mosaics. Take a tour of the building and snap photos of the eccentric design and handcrafted interior decor created to match the style of the exterior. • It is a beautiful and unique House. From conception and design to decoration and the construction process are very particular, and make this beautiful place worth visiting. However, it is what it is, a House, without further claims, there are no other things that find, much less a theme park for less than USD$ 4 that is worth the admission for an adult (COP$ 10,000 pesos) and less than USD$ 2 per child.

  • I loved it, the only thing wrong is that apparently some visitors urinate and smells a lot but whole ecological theme that handles the House is spectacular, finishes, colors and details.

  • Go there ! It's beautiful and unique. Real art 👌.
  • Definitely worth the trip! The house reminds me quite a bit of a house out of Beetlejuice. Really amazing artwork inside and out!
  • Interesting stop in our cycle. 10000pesos entrance. Would not go out of the way to see it but some one has put a lot of work in to it.
  • World's largest terracotta structure! Definitely worth a visit.
