  • Great place to spend a morning! Unexpectedly brilliant; collection of plants from all around the world (mainly tropical) in a tranquil setting. A few surprises (bright red squirrel & a few cheeky parr...  more »
  • Guillermo Piñeres Botanical Garden is located in the town of Turbaco 30 minutes from Cartagena. It is recommended to arrive by taxi, own vehicle or rental vehicle, since making use of the public transport service, stretches the route because several stops will be made and transfers that ultimately will need to use a motorcycle taxi to arrive (form transportation that I do not advise to use). The garden has long trails and several bodies of water and during the tour be observed some animals as: squirrels, howler monkeys, birds and small lizards; You may also see trees and leafy trees, different kinds of flowers, and some fruits. The walk is very nice since converges not many people at the same time, allowing you to enjoy the landscape in a better way.

  • The visit has been worth it. Bantu hotel had us Luis (304-209 9550) recommended as a safe taxi and it was a good recommendation. He went with us to Turbaco and showed on the back and also on the other way back even the environment Cartagena us. We have ordered him back immediately for the next day to look at the Avario Nacional. He has also accompanied us all the way and on lots of stuff drawn our attention, which we had - not otherwise seen also on the small, black and yellow poison dart frog.

  • This is an absolutely amazing place to visit, it is by the entrance of a town called Turbaco ( name taken from an ancient brave, war-skilled native indian tribe known as Yurbacos) in the Guillermo Piñeres garden, there are plenty of animals to see, like monkeys, sloths and birds of different kinds. There are lots of plants and flowers of all sorts, some of which only exist in very few places. This massive garden is filled with flora and fauna and it is a glimpse of what this part of Colombia used to look like about four hundred years ago. This garden is also well known historically, because of the different important events that took place on its surroundings. The independence of Colombia was signed on a ranch not far from the garden named "Torrecilla". Also, as you come out of the garden unto the main road, you will get a panoramic view of Cartagena de indias, which was an strategic place for the battles of independence; the people could see their enemies coming from the sea and up the hill towards the town and thus prepare for battle. If you love exploring, birdwatching, or simply walking in nature. This is the place to be.
  • The road leading to the garden was horribly maintained. The garden was neat and maintained well. I loved the garden and its greenery.
  • Beautiful garden but slow birding. Get here by 6 a.m.
  • Excellent for birding!
  • There's a Coca tree, if you wonder where cocaine from..
