Playa Grande, Taganga

#3 of 6 in Beaches in Santa Marta District
Beach Nature / Park
A short walk out of the town, Playa Grande is a beach well-loved by the locals who flock to it during holidays. Backed by gentle, green hills, and lined with fine, white sand against emerald waters, this is a nice place to soaking up the rays. Reach the beach via an ecological path or by a quick boat trip. Take a dip in the clear water and top it off with a fresh catch served up by the many seaside restaurants. Our Taganga trip builder makes visiting Playa Grande and other Taganga attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • It`s kind of a walk along the cliff. On the weekends very busy with a lot of locals. You get to see local lifestyle, but i wouldn`t call it a beautiful beach. It does the job - you can go for a swim. ...  more »
  • The beach is crowded by people, is difficult to enjoy the small Bay. However, ten minutes walking you can find other girls and more isolated beaches.

  • With a friend we came to Taganga. The beach is not very rich. The sand is hard and there was much wind. They recommended we go to Playa Grande. When you arrive in Taganga many offer boat ride to arrive. First error. We stayed with Caroline or Carolina, a blonde woman of about 50, and so many years. Without seeing the boat, which was little insurance vs. other boats. They told us that we were going to eat well on the premises of his daughter. But when you get locals have very poor hygiene and are extremely expensive (a dish 35,000 Colombian pesos vs the 10,000 who came out a lunch in a local cleaner in Taganga). The playa linda, but very noisy. It is also hard sand and you have little space if you don't want to rent a deck chair. Also after I got sick with abdominal pain and severe diarrhea. I do not say to be bad ride. But note the precautions of lunch in Taganga. See the boat that offered and be willing to pay for admissions.
