Estrecho del Magdalena, San Agustin
(4.6/5 based on 70+ reviews on the web)
Observe the sculpting power of a fast river current at Estrecho del Magdalena. Here the Magdalena River surges through a small pass between the rocks, leaving very visible signs of erosion in its wake and sculpting formations over time. Take in the scenery as you listen to water crashing against the rocks. A statue of the virgin Mary sits perched up on a cliff observing the forces of nature. Bring your own refreshments, as there are no amenities here, and travel to nearby sites is via unpaved roads. • I was in the morning, to get can take public transportation with destination to Obando from San Agustion, $3500 by COP and leaves Sunday with some frequency (every 30 to 40 min) or take a tour. Travel time is about 40 minutes, the road is open and pending, by which I do not recommend to go by bike unless that you have changes and you have experience in mountaineering, you say you quete driver leave in the Strait where a great notice, there is the walk is quite short by a stone stair path you arrive in the Strait and you can take pictures, not me thought it was slippery stones unless you are wet, I went on a day with plenty of sunshine, if it rains maybe stones are smooth, you can walk quietly by stones carefully, they say that the Strait can jump but the truth for the comments say that it is very dangerous, and in addition I found a little difficult so don't the recommend they say there are eddies and there are many stories, including a cross of someone who died on the site. You can swim a little more ahead of the Strait where there is as a small stone Beach and the river is quiet, more above Rapids as well as downstream so it must be careful but it is safe to bathe in this place. The visit may be delayed one hour and finally you go to Obando at Museum (it's quite simple but is very close to 2 Kms, you can go on foot 40 minutes up the road) or you can take bus public back, transport was a little difficult to return and I had to take a van San Agustin I approach that is about 12 km from this place.

  • This place is a must-see when visiting St. Augustine. The atmosphere is excellent, see the force of the river is wonderful, and in general a place makes all the environment to share with family or friends. It is perhaps important to point out that I believe that it does lack security for visitors since no barriers that prevent approaching the edge and cases of fall River have already occurred. Otherwise I thought it was one of the best attractions in St. Augustine. On the site you get snacks typical of the region and handicrafts at a great price

  • One of those places where you can feel the power of nature: 2 meters wide, 19 meters deep; and a dangerous place, of course; don't came too close...!
