Established in 1995, the site protects a number of different ecosystems such as coral reefs, mangrove forests, tropical dry forests, and sea grass. The park also serves as an essential breeding ground for over 70 migratory and local avian species; look for rare breeds such as green heron, royal tern, brown booby, and frigatebird. The only way to arrive is from the sea via a spectacular "tunnel" of mangroves until it opens up and gives way to the lagoon. The place is extremely quiet with some birds among the mangroves, fish, jellyfish, etc. What I think the best is renting a kayak stuck to the Deep Blue hotel, go to CrabCay (at noon when it is because excursions are gone) and then go to the McBean Lagoon (the entrance in Crab Cay also serves as access to Mc Bean Lagoon) from Crab Cay to the lagoon are 40 minutes paddling (depending on the wind).
