Torre del Reloj, Popayan
(4.5/5 based on 70+ reviews on the web)
Visit Torre del Reloj to see an icon of the city of Popayan. The tower's white walls, roof, and windows resemble those of other buildings located around the plaza. Take a close look at the clock and you'll notice that the number four is incorrectly written in Roman numerals. Consisting of 96,000 bricks, the structure was built between 1673 and 1682 in England, but didn't arrive in its current place until 1737. • This building has been a symbol of the payanesa culture since its construction. Its overall structure is damage during the earthquake of the 83' but followed on foot, so it was given a refurbishment to its structure; at the base of the building there is a plaque dedicated to the people who lived the tragedy. The clock does not work, was paralyzed during the earthquake.
