  • A great place to learn about the ecosystem of paramo and the traditions of the local indigenous populations

  • We took the bus at 7: 00 in Popayán (Sotracauce, 21000 cop pp, it has more information about the bus connections at the end of the text) up to the "el cruce de la mina" just after the village of Puracé. There we got off shortly after 9: 00 and left in a small shop, where we have asked for a guide. The Guide costs per group 35000 cop. First, we had to walk with the Guide to the registration to the entrance of the National Park Puracé. The entrance fee is 10000 cop pp. After that, we went to the "piedra de cóndores", where our guide put out 2-month-old beef on a rock. We were extremely lucky, because after 20 minutes the two Canadore (males and females) were flown on to food. The birds are gigantic! At 11: 00, we took the bus up to the "termales San Juan". After a short walk we could marvel at, seemingly, Laguna in many colors. Then we walked about the street along and have the "lago Campbell Valley", the "Cascada de bedon", as well as the "laguna san rafael" (which only from a distance) looked at. At 3: 00, then the bus off the road picked us up and brought back to Popayan. Conclusion: The Guide would be only for the indication of the Canadore really "necessary", but with 35000 cop, he is anything but expensive and Manuel (our Guide) has declared and told us lots of other exciting things during the hike. Things to bring: - Something to eat, and especially much to drink (helps against the height) - rain protection, because the weather there is extremely changeable - binoculars and camera (observation of the Canadore) information on bus connections: - sotracauca goes to 5.00, 7.05, 14.30 clock from Popayán between 15.00 and 16.00 of Puracé back coomotor moves at 9.30 am from Popayán Popayán - - cootransmayo leaves at 10: 30 am , 12:30 from Popayán

  • We went during the day from Popayan with our car rental to the PNN of Puracè and quite by accident a person stopped us at the entrance to the Park by giving us your visit to 4 different places in the park with a local guide. Then accompanied by the Guide (local indigenous extremely good, quiet and competent) that you got in the car with us went toward a cliff to see the condor, then to see a lagoon, then a waterfall passing through the midst of mixed landscapes of high altitude and tropical, and especially to an area with hot sulphurous water emergencies, bubbling mud puddles, vapours, rocks and vegetation of MOSS from the beautiful colors. Highly recommended if you want to "relax" into an environment finally without much "humans". Winning authors me advised not to go by public transport because it is less free, less constrained as schedules.
