Plaza de Bolivar, Pereira

(3.9/5 based on 150+ reviews on the web)
Brimming with timeless elegance and historical significance, Plaza de Bolivar lays claim to the title of the heart of the original town. This busy square is the natural starting point for visitors touring the capital city, anchored at the center by a bronze statue of Simón Bolivar, which was created in 1846 by Italian Pietro Tenerani. Bolivar was a Venezuelan military leader instrumental in securing the independence of Colombia independent of Spanish rule. The Palace of Justice, parliament buildings, mayor's office, and a cathedral anchor each of the four sides of the city square. All of the surrounding buildings have their own style, dating between the 17th and 19th centuries. You'll find many street performers, stores, and cafes in the area. • The square is huge, but should be visited because it shows the heart of the city of Pereira, mark your Foundation. Where is the Cathedral which although closed for works, is an imposing building. What stands out is the Bolivar monument does in bronze, a work of art.

  • The site summarizes large symbols of Periera: the monument to Bolivar naked, the cathedral our Lady of the poverty and some buildings of architecture of them years 30s to 50 as the Mayor, the Braulio Londoño and the Hotel Soratama. Not to be missed the inside of the Cathedral. Take a picture with the traditional square photographers taking photo of the monument, they deliver it printed, it is a tradition. The mango trees because they have more than 100 years. Watch authentic behavior of the Pereira: taking Red purchased in small carts, they converse among them sitting in the square, they trade... is a very typical experience.
