Church
Escape from the busy streets of El Centro and retreat to the cool, calm masterpiece of Cathedral of Our Lady of Poverty Pereira. Built in 1890, the former Catholic church boasts a truly unique architectural style--with 13,503 pieces of curly cumin wood forming an intricate latticed ceiling. The exterior and interior are both of brick construction, the latter decorated with sculptures and figurines. Pope Pius XII elevated the church to a cathedral in December 1952. Poke your head in, gaze at the ceiling, and tour the catacombs if the gate is open. • Les was the first time in visiting Manizales and the first thing I did was go to a tourist information point... One recommended me make the visit to the cathedral which could certainly not do so. The story that preserves this seemed very interesting. First show you a video where you have the entire process of construction and transformation that had. Then a very prepared guy made us travel, should upload and upload... until you get to the top where you see a wonderful of the Manizales del Alma view. DTaP: Take a good tennis and a bottle with water at least lol.

  • I don't know how to describe the inside of the cathedral in terms other than beautiful. It has a look that I've never seen anywhere else in the world!  more »
