I would say that small is inevitable this visit, if you're going for tourism. You will know the history of the main festivity of the city of Pasto: the Carnival of blacks and whites. Enjoy the history and some samples of beautiful decorations used for the Carnival.

Museum entry is free, and its collection is composed of different parts used in the parades of the Carnival of blacks and whites. I think the Museum can improve putting audiovisual rooms of previous parades so that tourists can have a better dimension of the celebration that lasts several days, statement of the artists carving sculptures of the Carnival. It would also be interesting to see more costumes parades in exhibition because there was only one.

Really neat way to see some of the history of the black y white festival in Pasto. Some of the previously winners of the float contests are displayed in this museum. They really are neat to see and the museum is free.

Where to stay in Pasto

Just two hours from the border with Ecuador, Pasto represents a stop-off point for traveling business people, so you can bet on having plenty of choices when it comes to accommodations. A few older, more atmospheric hotels sit in the city's historic center, offering rooms with lots of character and various additional facilities. Simpler business-style hotels can be found farther from the center of town, usually close to the main regional highways--these are especially convenient for those wishing to explore the remoter parts of the region.
