Plaza Botero, Medellin
(4.1/5 based on 2,600+ reviews on the web)
In the heart of the city's old town, Plaza Botero pays tribute to the famed works of Colombian sculptor Fernando Botero. Nestled between the palace of culture and the local museum, the verdant square serves as a hub of city activity. Wander among the numerous bronze statues by Botero and you'll get a solid understanding of the artist's famed style: his trademark sculptures feature chubby figures, both human and animal, with exaggerated, balloon-like proportions. Try striking a pose of your own in front of one of the 23 popular works on display here, or grab an ice cream and park bench to watch the crowds go by. • This plaza was interesting because of the many Botero sculptures in it. However, the plaza was very, very crowded and pickpockets were on the loose. SO BE CAREFUL THERE1
  • You can enjoy the great Botero outdoor sculptures. There is a metro station just a few metres from the plaza Botero. A place forced on your visit to Medellin.

  • Wonderful Plaza full of Botero statues. Well worth over a couple of million dollars. You could easily spend some time here and examine all the unique statues.
  • ILove this placer.... And this city....It's so so wonderful
  • Great square, there are many Botero sculptures, it's a zone with nice location, which exposes many culture of Medellín.
  • Nice area but swarming with vendors.
  • Very lively plaza with a lot of things happening and things to see. The statues of course, but also some nearby churches and museums.
