Categories: National Parks, Wildlife Areas, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.4/5 based on 1,200+ reviews on the web
Soar over the treetops in a cable car as you make your way to Arvi Park, a hillside nature reserve looking out over Medellin. This pristine area offers you a chance to appreciate colorful butterflies and wildflowers while walking along one of many hiking paths. Make the 1.5-hour trek to the park's lagoon, or stop for a picnic on the banks of a bubbling creek. You can join a guided tour to gain access to otherwise restricted areas of the park, although your guide will likely only speak Spanish. Make Arvi Park a centerpiece of your Medellin vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Medellin holiday planner.

  • If the ride in wasn't stunning enough, the walk through the forrest when you reach the top will take your breath away. Highly recommend!
  • Parque Arví is a worthwhile day trip. Starting out on the metro, you can head up the metro cable (gondola) and enjoy super awesome views of the whole city! The metro cable up to the park is an extra ticket and well worth it. The trip from Santo Domingo to the park is about 18 minutes and goes up the stew mountainside and then across the forest with great views. If you've got 4+ hours to spend, go for it! You might be tempted to go to the small lake nearby, in my opinion, it wasn't worth the cost and time to get there. Is a very small dam with a small, dirty lake. Enjoy Colombia!
  • Good spot for a break from the city. You can reach it by taking the metro system all the way and by connecting with cable car (metrocable) to station santo domingo where you will need to switch and pay 4,800 COP one way to the last section of the cable car. This is called the tourist cable car. Once reached the station atop yo will exit and to the left in front there will be a arvi Park store where you can sign up for a 2 to 3nhour nature walk. The cost is 3,000 COP. The walk is not that interesting but ok for the price. I think the walks are all in Spanish but ask if they provide English. The length of the tour is to account for the pace of participants. The walk is a good way to have a guide and avoid getting lost while completing a walk. There is a little farmers market in front of the station where you will find snacks, food and drinks. Obleas for 1,500 to 2,000 COP. Coffee for 1,200 COP and he chocolate for 1,800 COP.
  • Fantastic views from the cable car from Santo Domingo station in Medellin (last cable stop on the normal metro) to Arvi. The ride is an additional 5000 COP one way and the 4.5 km trip takes about 20-25 minutes. The last ride back is at 17:00 but there are signs recommending you leave by 16:30. The park is supposed to be great for trekking around but since we got there pretty late we mainly went to check out a place serving great, giant mushrooms and craft beers just outside the Arvi station when you arrive. I definitely recommend it!
  • Muy bno parque
  • Must visit this beautiful park if you're in Medellin :) Great for hiking for all ages and levels! Tip: Get a ticket/wristband for going on the walking tour; they give a nice background story of the park and its history.
