Nevado del Ruiz, Manizales

4.5
Set foot on the volcano that killed more than 20,000 Colombians and buried the village of Armero at Nevado del Ruiz. The volcano, whose name translates from Spanish as "the sleeping lion," erupted in 1985, causing one of the most destructive natural disasters in human history. Nowadays you can take a guided tour to the volcano, where you'll get a sense of the catastrophe's extent, and how the land has since recovered. Bring warm clothes and take your time, as the high altitude can make hiking difficult. Take a look at our Manizales trip planning website to schedule your visit to Nevado del Ruiz and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • There's nothing that send you to other similar sites, we can see several scenery and thermal scales as you are going to rise, ascent is steep but short why I recommend taking your time to upload if you are not an expert, beautiful place inhabited by the Condor, it is necessary to climb with Guide at the Park, prepare yourself for an experience next to the volcano and the Moor

  • The splendor of nature at its finest! Magic for your eyes and your mind! That beautiful landscapes! Climbing is a little hard if you have breathing problems, but is worth all the effort... and if this cleared the Nevado shows its maximum splendor! It is better to go during the summer to have the best views! And take much coca tea to take forces! Magical realism!
