Catedral de Manizales, Manizales
(4.6/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web)
Catedral de Manizales remains a towering example of 20th-century religious architecture and one of the best-known places of worship in the country. On this site, churches have been built and rebuilt after natural disasters and fires since the mid-19th century. The current building was completed in 1939, designed to be earthquake resistant. The pragmatic elements of the church are balanced with the bold Neo-Gothic style and ornamental stained glass work, a decorated main tower that reaches 106 m (348 ft) into the sky, and a vast interior with many religious artworks. • Very good choice for appreciated Gothic architecture! It retains its old world charm and is very attractive!

  • The Cathedral overlooks the largest square in Manizales and often is the backdrop for outdoor events. Built of concrete and reinforced concrete is resistant to earthquakes and is the second highest Cathedral of South America. Large arches inside and can climb to a view of the city from above.
