Catedral de Manizales, Manizales

Categories: Churches, Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.6/5 based on 420+ reviews on the web
Catedral de Manizales remains a towering example of 20th-century religious architecture and one of the best-known places of worship in the country. On this site, churches have been built and rebuilt after natural disasters and fires since the mid-19th century. The current building was completed in 1939, designed to be earthquake resistant. The pragmatic elements of the church are balanced with the bold Neo-Gothic style and ornamental stained glass work, a decorated main tower that reaches 106 m (348 ft) into the sky, and a vast interior with many religious artworks. • It is very high and its external domes are majestic. Inside, it is not decorated visually making it flat and little striking, but once lit La Luz to the Eucharistic gold finish shines all the hunch and looks very sober. The weekend is you can make the journey called "Polish walk" climb to the dome and you see the view from the Center and North of the city of Manizales.
