(4.9/5 based on 70+ reviews on the web)
Learn about pre-Columbian history while you’re surrounded by lush green landscape at Archaeological Park of Tierradentro. The park is known for its pre-Columbian underground, or hypogea. Find these underground tombs, which typically feature western-oriented spiral stair entrances, leading to a chamber five to eight meters below ground. Chamber walls are usually painted in red, black, and white. Some of the underground chambers contain ancient remains, although many are gone due to grave robberies that happened before the park became a protected area. • One of the best places in the Cauca (Yes, Cauca, Huila, not). It is very easy to arrive at this beautiful place. I was in St. Augustine and after many transfers becomes silver - Huila and I stay at a beautiful hotel next to the transport terminal. (it can be from Popayán also). The next morning, fearful and take a collective-truck that would take me direct to San Andrés de Pisinbala (Tierradentro). My transport was accompanied by coffee farmers whose topic of conversation was the coffee which is of excellent quality. After some hours, get happy to my destination. To take the tour, you must have good weather and good I bought physical because you should walk to learn about all the Hypogea. It is done in two days. I did not have much time as I have a bit of good physical stamina, I did travel 1 day. (the hosting there is no mess, because there is a beautiful hotel in Tierradentro and locals also provide hosting for a low price). I recommend bringing water. It is a beautiful place to visit, places with fewer tourists I have visited is, therefore it is very quiet.

  • Tierradentro is an archaeological Park ideal for those seeking to disconnect from the routine, close to the town of San Andrés de Pisimbalá, the location of the tombs, or hypogea can see rugged mountains with amorphous forms. The same hypogea and rock art that incredibly kept inside allow a sense of tranquility and inner peace. It is advisable to bring water because there is no business inside of the Park. Approximately, wait 4 hours the first day and 4 - 5 hours the according to day stop travel camimando most of this site. The first part of the tour is the Alto de Segovia and the high of the Duende where there is a good number of hypogea or preserved tombs then go to the plank, site where few very similar to San Agustin statues. From this point, the village of San Andrés de Pisimbalá is near (15 minutes walking). The second day, it is preferable to starting early, starts from the Alto de San Andrés, located in the village, next to the restaurant La Portada, from there walk to the high of the avocado, the road is a bit long but the view of the mountains is unique, several mountains cross from coffee plantations to forests and trails with little steep cliffs. Tombs atop avocados are not pretty and preserved, but the incredible view of various peoples as Inza, San Andrés de Pisimbalá and including the alto de Segovia, El Duende and plank belonging to the Park of Tierradentro, is simply baffling. In fact, from the avocado, you can go to the herd where you can see another type of statues, although we couldn't find it for lack of signage, the road is at the top of the mountain, allowing you to discover the Tierradentro is called and that I consider for my the best view of all Colombia.

  • The road to reach Tierradentro is a land, close and work for years: so she is not in very good condition. But the sites are worth: these are very rare sets of decorated underground tombs scattered on several sites in the mountains. There is also a very interesting explanatory Museum at the entrance to the main site. You will receive as a souvenir a 'passport' to do composting at each visit to a site: it's a memory to keep
